Exciting advancements in MIM and 3D printing technologies make every day at CMG thoroughly enjoyable and interesting, says our Technical Sales Manager, Mark Leonard.
Boasting more than 30 years’ experience in engineering and manufacturing, Mark has seen the rapid growth of new technologies since his early days of working within the engineering industry.
He joined the CMG team following our acquisition by INDO-MIM Ltd and has since used his network of contacts across the country to drive the growth of our business.
His role sees him travel across the country to meet with new and existing customers and share the potential of the technologies.
Mark said: “I first entered the industry after leaving school over 30 years ago as an apprentice toolmaker for a local plastic mould injection/pressure die casting toolmaking company.
“I got into the industry because engineering seemed to fit the bill when it came down to my key interests as I have a passion for design and manufacture and enjoy problem solving.
“For me, one of the many rewards of my job is knowing that the things we create can make a real difference to people’s lives. In my previous roles working in older style manufacturing companies the difference is like night and day; the modern ways of working we use here at CMG like 3D printing are amazing.”
Mark’s vast experience spreads beyond toolmaking however, having taken on work in the sales side of the industry at a previous employer.
He said: “I received an opportunity to move into a sales focused environment many years ago which meant spending lots of time on the road and building contacts across the industry.
“I feel so lucky that my job allows me to meet the customers, getting to know them, understanding their requirements and working with them on their new project work.
“I’m so proud to be a part of CMG/INDO-MIM. I couldn’t be any happier!”
Mark has quickly become an integral part of the CMG team since joining us in late 2023 – with his daughter Ellie looking to follow in his footsteps following her work experience placement with us.
He said: “The way colleagues share their knowledge with one another is truly inspiring; the people we have here are so talented. The knowledge and passion we have in the team is phenomenal.
“The thing I really enjoy is how every day seems so different here at CMG. The technology we use is so innovative that there is always something new and exciting to learn.
“That’s what inspired me to make the move to CMG.

Outside of work, Mark is a big family man who loves nothing more than spending quality time with his wife and three daughters – if he’s not doing DIY around the house!
