Engineering benefits all walks of life, but it’s no secret it’s a male-dominated industry. At CMG Technologies, we are proud of the talented women who help us lead the way in the sector.
To mark International Women’s Day, we’d like to introduce you to some of the women that make CMG the internationally renowned business it is today.
Rachel Garrett
Rachel Garrett is our Managing Director who has helped grow the company since her very first day.
Beginning in a sales and marketing role for then Egide UK, Rachel completed a buyout of the business in 2013. Rebranding as CMG Technologies, Rachel then became Managing Director in 2016.
She has led the company to win multiple awards for innovation and staff wellbeing. Not only that, but she managed the shift to a four-day working week which led to soaring profits and improved work-life balance.
In 2022, Rachel was named in the Timewise Power List, a collection of successful professionals working part-time. More recently, she oversaw CMG Technologies’ joining of the Indo-MIM Ltd group, the world-leading MIM specialist.
Joanna Rakocz
Joanna is our Quality Team Leader and Lead Auditor, ensuring CMG’s high standards are maintained and ISO regulations are met.
When she joined the company in 2011, Joanna worked on the production side of the business, manufacturing parts for a wide range of clients. It’s that experience which she says helped her transition to quality control.
Since joining, she has completed numerous training opportunities including internal auditing and more.
Thanks to our four-day week and flexible hours, Joanna is able to spend quality time with her son and husband outside of work. Additionally, she uses her three-day weekends to visit her family in Poland without the need to use holiday.
Michelle Griffin
Michelle is part of the quality control team and is integral to ensuring the high quality of CMG Technologies is maintained.
Following in the footsteps of her mother, who worked here for almost 30 years, Michelle joined as an operator. This year, she will be marking her 13th year with CMG.
Michelle has Parkinson’s disease and has praised the company for being understanding and supportive since her diagnosis. She praised the help received from everyone, as well as the flexibility throughout the company.
Admitting her Parkinson’s disease has made her more impulsive, Michelle completed her full motorcycle test after her diagnosis. So, outside of work you can find her riding her KTM 390 Adventure – or going for walks when the weather isn’t on her side.
Kathleen Purdy
Kathleen joined the company at the start of 2023 and is one of our production operators.
She had previously worked for another engineering company, having always wanted to be a mechanic – but departed after she was never given the opportunity to become trained on machinery.
Now, fully trained with CMG Technologies, she manufacturers numerous parts for our clients.
Kathleen has praised the company for the opportunities to learn, as well as the flexible hours offered to all staff.
Outside of work, she spends her time powerlifting at the gym, reading and going to the pub with friends.
Agata Gorniak
Agata has been with the company since 2012. She began her time with the company manufacturing components in the workshop, before moving to the quality control team.
She found her transition smooth thanks to the experience and knowledge she built during her time on production, where she was involved in the moulding and processing of parts.
As a mum, the flexibility offered at CMG is a great benefit to her role. It allows Agata to take her child to and from school, while also spending more quality time with them outside of work.
Orsi Batka
Orsi is our Purchasing and Health & Safety Administrator. Moving to the UK from Hungary 19 years ago, Orsi will be marking her 10th anniversary with CMG Technologies this year.
She plays an integral role in ensuring the team have the materials they need to manufacture parts for clients, while also maintaining a safe environment. While Orsi doesn’t have prior experience in the industry, her technology degree has helped gain an understanding of the complexities of the work we do.
As a single mother, Orsi praises the flexibility offered at CMG Technologies. Thanks to our four-day week, she can spend time with her daughter without using holiday.
Outside of work, she takes her daughter horse riding and spends time in the yard taking care of their horse.
Vida Bagackiene
Vida has been with the company since 2021, initially working in the production team before moving to quality control.
After moulding intricate parts in the workshop, Vida transitioned smoothy into her new role. Before joining CMG Technologies, Vida worked as a carer but she thoroughly enjoyed the change.
During her time in the workshop and within her current role, Vida enjoys learning more about the huge range of parts we manufacture in-house.
Outside of work, Vida spends much her time with her children and wider family.
We are extremely proud of the talented team we have built at CMG Technologies. For many, we provide their experiencing of engineering and proud to have retained so many of our employees.
