CMG Technologies is delighted to announce it has won a coveted accolade at the 2020 Suffolk Business Awards.
CMG were awarded the ‘Innovation in Business’ award for their highly innovative Metal Injection Moulding process and for taking part in the national effort to produce critical parts for ventilators during the Covid-19 pandemic.
We were recognised remotely after the yearly awards ceremony was cancelled.
The award celebrates Suffolk’s most innovative businesses, with CMG pinching this year’s top spot after their pioneering technology helped to support communities and change lives during the pandemic.
CMG Managing Director Rachel Garrett was full of pride accepting the award after a year of adaptation.
“We are delighted to have won this award,” Rachel explained, “We are incredibly proud of what we do and our continued work in a difficult year has made our dedicated team even more appreciative of the ways in which our work changes lives and solves problems.”
“We strive for innovation in our manufacturing processes and actively seek to work with clients who are leaders in their field. It feels fantastic that our efforts and focus on innovation have been rewarded.”
CMG is the only business in the UK offering metal injection moulding (MIM) – a manufacturing method for metal used to produce intricate metal parts in large quantities.
We supply 40,000 scalpels to the NHS every month and have also produced intricate components for robotic prosthetic hands and devices used to test for cervical cancer.
These components are often miniscule, but the level of detail CMG can achieve with the MIM process means that these tiny parts can revolutionise the way a product works.
“The MIM process allows us to create components with a level of complexity that no other UK manufacturer can reach,” Rachel added, “These parts may seem insignificant to some but, as we’ve seen with our contribution to the nation’s ventilator supply, they can be life-changing.”
The MIM process involves mixing metal powders with polymer binders to manipulate the metal into behaving like a plastic. This new mixture is then injected into net shaped, precision components.
CMG is one of the only employers in the region to offer a flexible four-day working week for its 25 staff and offers flexible working for parents.
