Staff Spotlight – Chris Clark

Our newest starter Chris Clark has praised the ‘exciting’ world of MIM after swapping the pit lanes of Formula One for CMG’s Bentwaters base.

Chris, who had previously spent nine years in motor racing and engineering, joined the CMG team in April – having also worked in Suffolk’s agricultural sector.

As our Senior Production Engineer, he is responsible for overseeing our factory floor alongside General Manager Rob Kirk – supporting staff in optimising processes and ensuring all of our products are made to the highest standards.

Speaking after marking his first six months with the business, Chris said it has been ‘exciting’ sinking his teeth into a brand new industry for him.

“It’s gone really well,” he said. “I felt part of the team straight away – everyone has been so welcoming.

“I’m already putting some of my own ideas into action, which is great.

“It’s one of those roles where every day really is different. My main job is to help the guys out on the floor, finding ways to make their work easier and optimise processes for our customers.

“I want to do everything I can to help them.”

While the pace of MIM and 3D printing may not be as intense as the world of Formula One, Chris said he’s brought lots of transferable skills to his new role.

He said: “I’m a perfectionist who loves to do things methodically, so CMG is a great fit for me.

“Formula One is especially fast-paced. You don’t always have the time to get things done as thoroughly as you might like – while here at CMG, we take the time to do things properly and get things right for our customers.

“I’ve never dreamed of working in any other industry. I love learning how things come together and work – and I’m always up for a challenge.

“There have already been lots of challenges for me to face at CMG, but with such a great team here we’ve been able to overcome them together.”

Away from work, Chris remains a keen motorsport fan and loves to travel the world – but is equally as happy enjoying his time at home on the scenic Suffolk coast.
